Good morning and welcome to the Friends of SUBA February Blog Hop. Our theme this month is a Colour Co-ordination. If you are hopping along, you will have arrived here from the lovely Debs.
What is a Colour Combination? We are given 3 colours to use to make a card or project. It is a challenge as it does push us out of our comfort zone and use colours that we wouldn’t normally use. So our colours for this challenge are Petal Pink, So Saffron and Garden Green.
So How Did I Use The Colours?
When I was considering what I was going to make for this hop, I took into consideration that the colours are very Spring Like. The daffodils are out in the garden and leaves are beginning to burst. So I decided on a floral theme and reached for the Bloom By Bloom stamp set. This is part of a suite on page 25 in the new Occasions catalogue, the colours that are in this suite are very bold and bright and when you look at the images in the stamp set, initially you might only see the larger images! I started by just stamping all the images on a rough piece of card to get a “feel” for the stamp set. I discovered that there were quite a few smaller more delicate images in the set and that I could do a pattern with them.
I randomly stamped 6 of the smaller images on a piece of card which measures 7.5cm by 9.5cm. The dots are in Garden Green and the various small flower images are in either So Saffron or Petal Pink. I then layered this on to a piece of Garden Green card which measures 8cm by 10cm. The ribbon is Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8″ Variegated Ribbon from the Floral Romance Suite on page 11 in the Occasions catalogue. I wrapped it around the card and tied a bow off to the side. Then I added some dimensionals to the back of the Garden Green layer and adhered it to the centre of my base card which is Thick Whisper White Card and measures 10.5cm by 29cm and scored in half at 14.5cm.The Hello sentiment is from Well Said on page 27 in the Occasions catalogue. To add some dimension to my card I added pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls as the colours were a match! I finished the card off by adding one large Clear Rhinestone to one of the larger images to give a little sparkle !
Thick Whisper White Card – 10.5cm x 29cm (score at 14.5cm)
Garden Green Card – 8cm x 10cm
Whisper White Card – 7.5cm x 9.5cm
