Stampin’ Creative November Blog Hop – Step into Christmas

Hello and welcome to this month’s Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop! If you are hopping along you will have arrived here at Emerald Kreations – Gina Connor, from the lovely Eimear’s blog, Stampincolour.

This month’s theme is all about “Stepping into Christmas” and I thought I would share with you one of my favourite cards that I have made this season. You will have to forgive me for using a mixture of tools to make this card but I was letting my creative license flow without worrying too much about dipping into too many stamp sets etc.

The theme this week in class was ” Using Designer Series Paper “. So we stamped. folded and used daubers to change the look of our “DSP”.

The card is a regular card 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10..5cm (along the 21cm side) and then scored in 3cm from the right hand side at the front. I actually stuck the fold down at the front because it didn’t stand too well with the weight of the embellishments on the front.

I used the Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper on this card. I stamped a few snowflakes with Soft Sky ink on the actual paper, and then with Crumb Cake ink on the Crumb Cake card. I daubed all the edges with Crumb Cake Ink to make the card look a little distressed, before assembling the card. The Old Olive branches are from the Christmas Staircase Framelits, I added a double bow with Linen thread and a little gold embellishment from Year of Cheer. A few little Rhinestone Basic Jewels gave a little sparkle!

This is the insert of the card. The DSP measures 3cm x 14.8cm and the Whisper White measures 7cm x 14.8cm. Again all the edges are daubed with Crumb Cake ink.

I hope you like the end product as much as I do!

Next on the hop is “Queen Pip” and I’m sure she has a treat in store for you. Please click on the “Next” button below to see what Pip has created for you this month.

This is my favourite colour scheme for Christmas. My ever faithful Crumb Cake card, Pear Pizzazz,Whisper White and a little bit of gold to finish it off.

Sorry about the shadows ! Its winter here In Northern Ireland and we now have short days and very long nights! This is the insert of the card, I added a few of the Mini Gold Sequins for a little bit of sparkle.

Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop – Feeling Thankful

Hello and welcome to the October Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop! If you are following the hop along, you will arrived here from the lovely Caro  and the beautiful project that she made for you. This month is all about Feeling Thankful – so with this in mind I thought I would make a little thank you card. My “go to” stamp set at the moment is “Painted Harvest “.The images are just pretty, but I especially love the leaf images and the fact that they have a co-ordinating punch makes them so much more attractive to use.

I stamped the leaf images in Pear Pizzazz and as its autumn I used a “Daubed ” around the edges with Crumb Cake ink. The little acorns are just so cute! I stamped the base in Soft Suede ink and the top in Crumb Cake. These stamps are photopolymer, so they are really easy to line up.

I love a little bit of “Bling” so I mounted the Whisper White card on a piece of Gold Foil Card and added some Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes. I also punch out a leaf in Gold Foil and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. You can just see them peeking out from underneath the Pear Pizzazz leaves. A little double bow in Linen Thread finishes the arrangement off. I honestly felt as if I had been doing some Flower arranging today while I was making this card lol !

Next on the hop is the very talented Kim Fee. If you would like to see what kim has made , click on the “Next” Button below and it will take you to Kim’s Blog.

An inky Tutorial!

Last weekend I hosted a workshop featuring the beautiful Night In Bethlehem stamp set. We made a variety of cards, using different techniques and folds. We had a lot of fun!

Anyway I thought I would share with you a fabulous technique which gives a beautiful effect for images such as “sky”. This is one of the cards that we made!

It really is quite an easy technique and one that is hard to go wrong with, although that all depends on what look you are hoping to get!

So here we go !

These are the tools that we will be needing to do the technique. There will be a full list at the end, with a link to my online store should you wish to purchase anything.

1. First of all you will need to apply ink to the clear block using the brush end of our Stampin’ markers. Here I have used 3 different shades of blue, Dapper Denim ,Island Indigo and Marina Mist. I applied the darkest shade first and covered 1/3 of the block with  Dapper Denim and then I proceeded to use the other two shades. Can you see this in the picture below?

2. Next you will use a water filled spritzer and spray from a height ( so that you will get a fine spray)2 or 3 times over the now coloured block. So the water is sitting on the block.

3. Not every card works well with this technique which is why I have used  Stampin’ Up! Shimmer White card. It absorbs the ink really nicely and has a subtle shimmer within it. So what you do next is turn the block upside down onto a piece of pre cut shimmer card (measures 11/4″ x 41/2″ ) and watch the water soak into the card.

4. Leave it for a few minutes to soak in completely before lifting the block off. Then leave the card to dry, I speeded up this process by putting on top of a radiator. The card has to be completely dry before you stamp he next image on top of the background colour.

5. Stamp the city scene with Basic Grey ink on the now dried card and stamp the stars along the top.

6. Mount this onto some Gold Foil Card (measuring 41/2″ x 11/2″ ) and then onto an A6 card. A6 measures 21cm x 14.85cm .scored at 10.5cm along the 21cm side.

7.I like to complete my cards by doing a little stamping on the envelope as in the picture below.

I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial. If you would like to purchase at of the products needed to make this project, then click on the image below and it will take you my online store.

WelI I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial . See you again soon.

Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop casing Lyssa Zwolanek

Hello and welcome to this month’s Stampin’ Creative blog hop. Currently you are visiting me ! Gina Connor aka Emerald Kreations. If you are following along on the hop , you will have arrived with me from the lovely Eimear  This month’s theme is Casing and we have had the privilege of Casing the very talented Lyssa Zwolanek. I must admit I am very nervous in casing such a talented lady, I hope I do you justice Lyssa !

So below is the project which I thought I would like to Case from Lyssa’s blog, it has a design which you could interpret with many stamp sets.

So would you like to see my “case” of Lyssa’s card? I used the beautiful stamp set , Season like Christmas. I love the two tone of the Christmas tree which you achieve by using the two step stamping technique.

This stamp set is a great set as it includes verses as well as images. I used Chocolate Chip card for the base card and Old Olive DSP from the Merry Little Christmas pack. To achieve the two tones of green in the tree, I stamped the more solid image with Old Olive ink, I stamped it on to a piece of scrap paper and then stamped it onto the Whisper White card. Next I stamped the lighter tree image with Old Olive ink and stamped it directly onto the already stamped image, thus giving two different shades of green. I then stamped the trunk with Chocolate Chip ink and the verse, which I then cut out with the stitched framelit circle. To add a little bit of sparkle, I added a strip of Gold Foil Strip and some Gold Metallic Thread.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me. If you would like to continue hopping, please click on the “Next” button below and it will take you to the lovely Louise, who will have something fabulous to share with you.

See you all again soon

Night in Bethlehem

I am having fun playing with this beautiful set, ” Night in Bethlehem ” this week. I am hosting a 2 day Stampin’ Up! Craft event this weekend featuring this set.The stamp set includes wonderful images along with beautiful wording which can be used on the front of cards as well as on inserts.

I made this card this afternoon and I just had to share it with you.

I used our Stampin’ markers to colour directly onto the stamp, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Basic Grey  and Old Olive. I then layered them onto Whisper a White card and adhered directly onto the Whisper White base card. The wording is stamped in Basic Bkack ink and set in the corner. ” Clean and Simple ” is exactly how I describe this card.

When using this technique, a little tip that I would like to share with you is, when you have coloured all the image in with the various colours, ” huff” your breathe onto the stamp before you stamp it onto the card. This way , you are re  moisturising the ink which you have applied with the markers . Just in case the first colour has started to dry a little while you have been applying the other colours.!

This set includes some wonderful framelits, which are pretty amazing on their own . The detail is amazing ! Today I played with the stamps , so tomorrow I will combine the stamps and the framelits ! I really do love pulling the projects together for my events and classes.

Thank you for visiting my blog , see you again soon .

Stampin Creative August Blog Hop – I’m dreaming of …….

Hello and welcome to this month’s Stampin Creative Blog Hop. You are currently visiting me – Gina Connor aka Emerald Kreations! The theme this month is, “I’m dreaming……. which immediately made me think of the song , I’m dreaming of a white Christmas ” !

As our 2017 autumn/ winter catalogue goes live next week, it’s a great opportunity for me to show you my favourite stamp set in the catalogue. It’s called Snowflake Sentiments! I love sets that have verses, images and titles in a set ! This also comes with a co-ordinating die set called Swirly snowflake which is just beautiful!

My colour scheme is Soft Sky, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. The dots on the side of the Soft Sky layer is from the framelit set, it adds a nice texture.

I then used a smaller snowflake stamp and a verse from the set to decorate the inside of the card.

Typical that I smudged one of the snowflakes as I’m finishing the card but that’s what happens when it is hand made !

I hope you have enjoyed my Kreation! If you click on the “Next” button below it will take you over to the lovely Caro and you can see what she has to show you this month.

The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and the ladies could choose what sentiment they wanted.
